Bring your old pumpkin to Astoria Park, near the Ditmars Blvd and 19th St corner, and launch it from a giant slingshot built by the Astoria Woodworkers Collective, or smash it with a mallet. The pieces go to DSNY bins for compost. It's free, and bad weather can cancel or shift it.
